Edited by Hans Ulrich Obrist, with texts by Birgit Pelzer and Guy Tosatto, the book brings together works from Richter’s intensive 1995–96 period alongside a selection of earlier paintings retained in the artist’s studio. The publication includes predominantly abstract paintings together with an intimate cycle portraying Richter’s wife Sabine and their son Moritz.
Originally issued in 1996, this English-language edition was reprinted by Hatje Cantz in 2002. The publication was designed by Richter with Gabriele Sabolewski and has since gone out of print.
