Produced only fifteen years after Matisse’s death, the catalogue documents an important London presentation devoted specifically to his sculptural practice.
The exhibition brought together 16 bronze sculptures and 11 lithographs, accompanied by an introductory text by British sculptor and critic William Tucker. Illustrated throughout in black and white, the publication provides an early historical record of the growing reassessment of Matisse not only as a painter, but as a sculptor.
