Yayoi Kusama
Giappone: XLV Biennale di Venezia / Japanese Pavilion, 45th Venice Biennale
The Japan Foundation, Tokyo, 1993
Published for Yayoi Kusama’s landmark presentation at the Japanese Pavilion of the 45th Venice Biennale in 1993.
The exhibition marked Kusama’s return to Venice 27 years after her unofficial 1966 intervention, and played an important role in the international reassessment of her work. The Japan Pavilion presentation functioned almost like a compact retrospective, bringing together early Infinity Net paintings, soft sculptures and newer installations, with Mirror Room (Pumpkin) as a central work.
Designed and published by the Japan Foundation, the catalogue is richly illustrated and printed in English and Italian. Library records describe the volume as approximately 51 pages and 30 cm tall.
